Music and Choirs
Presbyterians believe that "Christian worship joyfully ascribes all praise and honor, glory and power to the triune God. In worship the people of God acknowledge God present in the world and in their lives."
We employ every gift, talent, and resource we have in rendering praise to the redemptive power of God at work in our lives. As the love of God transcends the power of human language to comprehend it and express our gratitude for it, so we draw upon poetry, music, and other artistic expressions to magnify our adoration and praise. In that way, music serves an essential role in the worship life of our congregation. We sing "hymns, psalms, and spiritual songs to God" in grateful praise for God's manifold acts of mercy and grace that make our lives extensions of his loving presence in the world.
We are blessed to have many devoted and talented musicians to lead our congregation in song during our weekly worship services at 10:00.
Our Chancel Choir, under the direction of our Organist/Choir Director provides leadership for our worship service at 10:00. The full range of classical, traditional, and spiritual anthems plus current praise choruses and worship songs are offered by this talented group of singers.
Our Children's choir "Melodic Minors" rehearses on Wednesday evenings during the program year from 6:15-7:00. We are blessed to have a large and enthusiastic group of children who share their gifts in worship 6-8 times a year, and at our annual Christmas Pageant.
The CPC Youth Choir "Amplified" rehearses 5:00-6:00 Sunday evenings before the youth groups meet. This awesome group of youth helps lead us in worship by sharing their gifts monthly!
Music is an important part of our life and worship. We are committed to providing an opportunity for all people to share their gifts and lift our hearts in grateful praise to the God who made us, redeemed us and loves us still.
